TEST DRIVE #002

TEST DRIVE #002
( 0 0 1 ) » WAKE UP
Were you asleep or were you unconscious? It doesn't matter: when you come to, there's an odd taste in your mouth and there's a low-level mechanical hum in the air. Your head hurts and you feel nauseous. You aren't anywhere you know: everything around you is metal, from the floor you lie on all the way to the ceiling. You are dressed in a jumpsuit you definitely weren't wearing before.
"We tried to save the world. I think— I think we did the opposite."
The message repeats on a loop. If you look for its source, you find a comms device on the floor next to you. The logo on its wallpaper says REVERIE TERMINAL. Upon closer inspection, you find the same logo on your jumpsuit.
Welcome to your new home. What choice do you have but to explore your surroundings?
( 0 0 1 . 1 ) » WAKE UP WHERE?When you wake up, you find that you're not alone. But more importantly, you find that you're in a closet. An empty closet, bar you and your new companion. It's small, cramped, and there is no door that you can see. The ceiling is low, there is barely any lights, only some coming from the tiny flashlight clipped to your suit's shoulder. You cannot be sure that there is any air coming in to the room.
Are these grooves in the wall supposed to mean something?

( 0 0 2 ) » OBSERVATION DECK
There were no windows in the corridor you woke up in and no windows in any of the crew quarters you might have checked for occupants — but there are plenty of windows on the uppermost level of the station, deck 1. In fact, there are windows from floor to ceiling all along the circumference of the station's circular deck, and it's possible to walk along it all. What it shows is a strange solar system you've never seen before and a planet that might resemble one you know, but certainly isn't the same.
You're in space. You don't know where you are. Neither does anyone else.

( 0 0 3 ) » BAR
On deck 3, you find the bar. Tucked away from the crew quarters, it's dimly lit, there are bar stools thrown down on the floor and what looks like some very old drink spills, crusty and dark against the bar top. But there is alcohol here, or at least, what you think is alcohol, in bottles with faded labels, most of them indecipherable. Take a drink, get drunk, start a fight, or start a party? You're stuck on this station, might as well make the most of it, right?

( 0 0 4 ) » SPACEQUAKES
One second, you are is walking. Magnetic boots are on, the ground feels solid enough, for a metal deck in a space station. Everything is perfectly fine, or at least as fine as it can be, given that you still don't know where you are or how you came to be here.
The next moment, it's like everything explodes around you. You're thrown against the wall as sparks erupts from electrical panels, as the whole station rumbles and shakes around you. You fall to the deck, earning yourself scratches from the grating. When you look up, it's like nothing has happened. No wires hanging from open panels, no flickering lights, no more shaking. Like an earthquake in space.

( 0 0 5 ) » NETWORK
The comms device you found next to you when waking up connects to a station-wide network, REVERIE NET. You have the option to post video, voice or text messages.
What will you share?

( 0 0 6 ) » WILDCARD
The station features a variety of locations, from sleeping quarters free for the claiming to a dirty swimming pool and a bar that still holds alcohol (though some of the bottles seem to have been opened a while ago).
Go wild, but don't wreck the place. It's your home for the foreseeable future, after all.
Claire Bennet | Heroes
[She definitely doesn't wake up gracefully. Claire comes to with a gasp, eyes flying open as her heart races. It takes a lot to make someone with her powers be forcibly unconscious, and when her system finally kicks into gear she's forced awake with a lot of adrenaline making her react poorly.
Kidnapping is a thing she's getting used to, but that doesn't stop her from hopping up to her feet and looking around in total panic and confusion. Her hands feel at her body, taking note that her clothes have been taken and she's been put in some kind of jumpsuit. That makes her sick to her stomach, because she doesn't remember how that happened. She can handle this, it's going to be fine. She just has to get some air before she throws up everywhere.
The metal grating of the closet spaced hole she's been shoved into is kicked at until it gives in and she's able to crawl free. It's pure luck that has her coming out of a space in the wall right by someone's feet. With a gasp for air that comes out sounding like a choked sob she slams a hand down on their feet or leg of their jumpsuit. If she happens to cause them to trip and fall, well, it's not like she's going to look guilty about it. She's the one that's on her hands and knees, trying to wriggle her way free of a hole in the wall.]
002 ; OBSERVATION DECK
[After Claire manages to calm down and realizes she's not necessarily in any immediate danger, she does some exploring. She only gets as far as the observation deck before stopping for the day. Seeing space laid out so openly is a lot to take in, and it's pretty much mind blowing for a sixteen year old that's never left Texas. She's sheltered enough that she might be a little more childish than someone else her age at this stage of her space hostage situation, and doesn't have any problem pressing both her hands and face against the glass. It's almost like she wants to get closer to everything that's out beyond the glass, but in actuality she just wants to make sure she sees it all as clearly as possible. She also hasn't clearly figured out the whole gravity thing here, and leaning against glass helps make her feeling off balance a little easier.]
Is there a way outside?
[It's asked out loud, though not to anyone in particular. She's not even aware that anyone else is standing near her right now.]
004 ; SPACEQUAKES
[She's in a total daze when it first happens, everything shaking and going topsy turvy as her feet fly out from under her. Airborn, she crashes into a wall and ends up a nosebleed and busted lip. There was definitely just an explosion of some kind, and it doesn't seem like it's ending right away. Blood gushes from her nose and ruins her jumpsuit, and she ignores it as she crawls to push herself up on her feet. Sparks are flying and the floor's still shaking, but Claire makes her way over toward the other person that's nearby. She has the luxury of healing. They don't. ]
Hey, it's okay. It's only a -
[What in the hell is this? She has no idea. She also sounds like she's gurgling blood when she talks, so she reaches up to wipe at her bloody face with her forearm.]
It's just an earthquake. People survive these things all the time.
[Except they're not on earth and it's more likely they're all about to explode and die in space. Cool.]
005 ; NETWORK (un: claire)
so how many other kids are here without their parents?
Ideas on how to survive space with our sanity intact when we're legally not even allowed to drink or vote are appreciated

I wouldn't recommend it though.
no subject
It might not be that bad. It sounds like the coolest view of space you can get.
[It's funny because you'll freeze. Yeah, she thinks she's hilarious.]
no subject
What's the view like from here?
no subject
One of her hand presses against the glass and she uses it to push back, giving herself room to actually look all around.]
It's like nothing I've ever seen before. There's stars everywhere, brighter than I could ever see them in Texas. And here -
[She pauses to grab his hand and put it against the glass, situating it right over the planet in the distance.]
There's a planet that has the same colors as Earth from far away, but it doesn't look right. There's also two moons. You can just barely see them right now, but one of them is pink.

You alright, sweetheart?
[ he drops his hand a second after he realizes he was still holding on, knowing she isn't alright - that no one is when they come here, but it's the best he's got for the moment. for his part, max's hackles droop and his ears spring back up into a happy loll, brushing her hand with his cold, wet nose. not a monster in the wall, then. just a girl. he licks her arm a second later, trying to introduce himself. ]

Apprehension is clearly written on her face as she tips her head to look up at him, head shaking to answer his question. No, she's not alright. She feels sick and she's been taken from home, and she's crying in front of a stranger and his dog.
His dog that's...not barking anymore and is now pushing at her hand with his nose. Her hand grips hold of that dog like he's a lifeline, and she tries pulling away from the man so she can stand behind the dog.]
I don't know where we are, and I think -
[Aha. Yeah. Here it comes. Her stomach flips one time too many and she throws up mid sentence. At least she has the decency to turn her head and do it off to the side, instead of on his feet.]
no subject
Shh, I know. It's a lot all at once.

I'm really getting sick of being kidnapped.

No wonder up feels like down and down feels like a merry-go-round. She's outside the magnetosphere.
She's outside the magnetosphere. ]
HEY! [ Refusing to be wooed by the incredulity compounding vista, Lorna snaps at the person already there. Might be Lauren, from the hair, but considering the situation, Lorna hopes not. ]
no subject
She points at herself and wears a questioning look on her face.]
Are you okay?
[Maybe it isn't her that's being shouted at. Or maybe it is, and she isn't sure what to do about that.]
no subject
Lorna leers at her, taking in every detail of her suit and then comparing it to her own, looking down at herself. No marks or insignia differentiate them from each other. Dissimilar sizes, that's all. So this girl is in the same boat she's in, or she's a plant. Plant, plant, be a plant. A plant would at least know what's going on, if Lorna can persuade her to be forthcoming. And even though she's many miles from her favourite layer of atmosphere
or whatever I'm not a scientist, there's plenty of metal around here that she can get creative with.If she were cut off from her abilities, she would know. This isn't that. Which, great! But, fuck. That she could handle. ]
no subject
I'm not sure? I mean, this isn't my first time being kidnapped but it's definitely the first time being kidnapped and sent to space. I can barely walk and I keep throwing up but at least I'm still alive, right?
[That's her attempt to look on the positive side of things. It probably falls really flat but it's not like she has a real answer to being asked if she's okay. ]
I'm still not sure how I'm supposed to let my parents know where I am since that planet out there definitely isn't Earth. And I'm starving but I don't know if this is one of those hostage situations where you're expected to go hungry.

I'm not actually interested in freezing to death and letting my corpse orbit this stupid terminal. There's better ways to get attention.

[ and now there's another. it pisses him off more than it should, thinking of the girl outside his window playing with the bird. of the girl watching him when he'd taken down his first perp. of missed opportunities and wasted years. but he steels himself to if not be helpful, at least be commiserating. ]
You from Earth?
[ he keeps guessing wrong on these, but he has a good feeling about this one. ]
no subject
[She doesn't elaborate and say it's on Earth because she just assumes everyone knows that. So she just moves on past that and gets to the important part.]
Are you one of the kids?

she'd gotten to her feet somewhat unsteadily, holding her hand out a few times as she'd started walking to make sure it wasn't shaking. it hasn't been, it still isn't, but her steps are still unsteady as she moves down the hall and she finds she needs to stop occasionally to lean against the wall for support.
it's at one of those moments she's paused, eyes shut as she tries to will her head to stop pounding and her guts to stop moving like the inside of a washing machine, that someone grabs at her ankle, and she's instantly alert and jerking away from the wall. ]
Jesus -
[ but she can hear someone. a young voice, anguished, trying to pull herself free. max is on her knees in an instant, reaching a hand out for the one that had grabbed her. ]
Hello?
no subject
I woke up stuck inside here. I just want to get out!
[Her voice elevates as that panic settles back in.]
Maybe you could try pulling or something?
[She feels like Winnie the Pooh stuck in Rabbit's house and that's pretty embarrassing.]
no subject
Okay. I'm gonna help pull you through, but I'm gonna need your help. See if you can reach your other arm out and hold onto my arms when you see them, then try pushing forward against the ground when I pull. Got it?
[ she adjusts her position so she'll have more leverage when she starts to pull, gets as close to the opening as she can, and reaches forward with both arms as promised, wrapping her fingers firmly around the girl's arms when she feels them. ]
Ready?
