TEST DRIVE #002

TEST DRIVE #002

( 0 0 1 ) » WAKE UP
Were you asleep or were you unconscious? It doesn't matter: when you come to, there's an odd taste in your mouth and there's a low-level mechanical hum in the air. Your head hurts and you feel nauseous. You aren't anywhere you know: everything around you is metal, from the floor you lie on all the way to the ceiling. You are dressed in a jumpsuit you definitely weren't wearing before.

"We tried to save the world. I think— I think we did the opposite."

The message repeats on a loop. If you look for its source, you find a comms device on the floor next to you. The logo on its wallpaper says REVERIE TERMINAL. Upon closer inspection, you find the same logo on your jumpsuit.

Welcome to your new home. What choice do you have but to explore your surroundings?
( 0 0 1 . 1 ) » WAKE UP WHERE?
When you wake up, you find that you're not alone. But more importantly, you find that you're in a closet. An empty closet, bar you and your new companion. It's small, cramped, and there is no door that you can see. The ceiling is low, there is barely any lights, only some coming from the tiny flashlight clipped to your suit's shoulder. You cannot be sure that there is any air coming in to the room.

Are these grooves in the wall supposed to mean something?

( 0 0 2 ) » OBSERVATION DECK
There were no windows in the corridor you woke up in and no windows in any of the crew quarters you might have checked for occupants — but there are plenty of windows on the uppermost level of the station, deck 1. In fact, there are windows from floor to ceiling all along the circumference of the station's circular deck, and it's possible to walk along it all. What it shows is a strange solar system you've never seen before and a planet that might resemble one you know, but certainly isn't the same.

You're in space. You don't know where you are. Neither does anyone else.

( 0 0 3 ) » BAR
On deck 3, you find the bar. Tucked away from the crew quarters, it's dimly lit, there are bar stools thrown down on the floor and what looks like some very old drink spills, crusty and dark against the bar top. But there is alcohol here, or at least, what you think is alcohol, in bottles with faded labels, most of them indecipherable. Take a drink, get drunk, start a fight, or start a party? You're stuck on this station, might as well make the most of it, right?

( 0 0 4 ) » SPACEQUAKES
One second, you are is walking. Magnetic boots are on, the ground feels solid enough, for a metal deck in a space station. Everything is perfectly fine, or at least as fine as it can be, given that you still don't know where you are or how you came to be here.

The next moment, it's like everything explodes around you. You're thrown against the wall as sparks erupts from electrical panels, as the whole station rumbles and shakes around you. You fall to the deck, earning yourself scratches from the grating. When you look up, it's like nothing has happened. No wires hanging from open panels, no flickering lights, no more shaking. Like an earthquake in space.

( 0 0 5 ) » NETWORK
The comms device you found next to you when waking up connects to a station-wide network, REVERIE NET. You have the option to post video, voice or text messages.

What will you share?

( 0 0 6 ) » WILDCARD
The station features a variety of locations, from sleeping quarters free for the claiming to a dirty swimming pool and a bar that still holds alcohol (though some of the bottles seem to have been opened a while ago).

Go wild, but don't wreck the place. It's your home for the foreseeable future, after all.

You mean, a star chart? We have plenty of those where I come from. No idea if there are any on this station.

[ Kanan raises his eyebrows at the question, however. ]

Uh, that depends. What do you mean by 'weird'?

[ Bridge raises one hand and wiggles his fingers. The glove is still on, but it's loose. ]

I can sense auras and residual energy patterns. Might help us find other people wandering around here.

[ Kanan, for obvious reasons, does not see the gesture. But he quirks an eyebrow all the same. ]

If that's anything like sensing people through the Force, I don't need your help with that. But it's handy, that's for sure.

[ Honestly Bridge is treating the mask like it's not even there. Maybe because aliens sometimes look like they can't see, but can, or maybe he hasn't even noticed. ]

The force of what? Gravity?

[personal profile] kanyounot 2018-08-20 11:22 pm (UTC)(link)
No, just the Force. The energy that binds all life in the universe together. Some of us are more attuned to it than others, in my galaxy.

Sooooooo... like religion? The Force is a power of you deity? Or is your deity? Do you worship the Force or just recognize that it's there? Do you meditate? Is that why you're more attuned to it or do you just feel more attuned to it?
kanyounot: (015)

[personal profile] kanyounot 2018-08-20 11:45 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Kanan has to laugh - at all the questions, mostly, and this guy's incessant curiosity. ]

I know I'm more attuned to it because I can do things other people can't. The Force isn't a deity, it's just part of the world - though people have made religions around it. And not everyone believes it exists - or I guess you could say, there are people who don't want it to exist, so they pretend it doesn't.

Oh, like what? Like sense things, obviously, which you said, but you didn't say what kind of things you sense? Can you do anything else? Like move things with your mind? Because you're connected to all the things through the Force and the Force is in your mind so it would make sense that the Force and your mind and other things are all connected and movable. Right?
kanyounot: (013)

[personal profile] kanyounot 2018-08-21 12:14 am (UTC)(link)
[ Kanan is not used to being so peppered with questions, especially by someone he's only just met - stars, it took years for Hera to learn half as much about him as this guy is getting from him in a few minutes. But the context is also quite different - and here? He can't really see much harm in explaining, to the best of his ability. ]

I mean, yeah, I can move things with my mind. And I'm faster, have better reflexes, I heal more quickly, I don't get sick as often - there are some other things I can do.
spd_green: (003)

[personal profile] spd_green 2018-08-21 12:18 am (UTC)(link)
Can you teach me?

[ It's probably an impertinent question coming from someone he's only just met and doesn't know anything about. (Bridge is the one asking all the questions, isn't he?) But Bridge can't help but be excited at the prospect of having more psychic powers and abilities. ]

I have the Force in and around me, too? Right?
kanyounot: (013)

[personal profile] kanyounot 2018-08-21 03:02 am (UTC)(link)
[ "Impertinent" is one way to put it. Kanan, however, just shakes his head. ]

The Force connects every living thing... but only some of us can tap into it - and that can't be taught. You're either born Force-sensitive, or not.

Oh.

[ His face falls. That would have been really, really cool. Maybe even cooler than being a Power Ranger.

...No, being a Power Ranger is cooler, he decides. So his expression brightens up. ]

We should find more people, huh?
kanyounot: (014)

[personal profile] kanyounot 2018-08-22 02:40 am (UTC)(link)
It would be a good idea. Make sure no one's hurt, and try to figure out what that shaking actually was.

[ Kanan's already starting down the corridor again, his stride cautious but not as much as one might expect for a blind man. ]
