( 0 0 1 ) » WAKE UP
Were you asleep or were you unconscious? It doesn't matter: when you come to, there's an odd taste in your mouth and there's a low-level mechanical hum in the air. Your head hurts and you feel nauseous. You aren't anywhere you know: everything around you is metal, from the floor you lie on all the way to the ceiling. You are dressed in a jumpsuit you definitely weren't wearing before.
"We tried to save the world. I think— I think we did the opposite."
The message repeats on a loop. If you look for its source, you find a comms device on the floor next to you. The logo on its wallpaper says REVERIE TERMINAL. Upon closer inspection, you find the same logo on your jumpsuit.
Welcome to your new home. What choice do you have but to explore your surroundings?
( 0 0 1 . 1 ) » WAKE UP WHERE?When you wake up, you find that you're not alone. But more importantly, you find that you're in a closet. An empty closet, bar you and your new companion. It's small, cramped, and there is no door that you can see. The ceiling is low, there is barely any lights, only some coming from the tiny flashlight clipped to your suit's shoulder. You cannot be sure that there is any air coming in to the room.
Are these grooves in the wall supposed to mean something?
( 0 0 2 ) » OBSERVATION DECK
There were no windows in the corridor you woke up in and no windows in any of the crew quarters you might have checked for occupants — but there are plenty of windows on the uppermost level of the station, deck 1. In fact, there are windows from floor to ceiling all along the circumference of the station's circular deck, and it's possible to walk along it all. What it shows is a strange solar system you've never seen before and a planet that might resemble one you know, but certainly isn't the same.
You're in space. You don't know where you are. Neither does anyone else.

On deck 3, you find the bar. Tucked away from the crew quarters, it's dimly lit, there are bar stools thrown down on the floor and what looks like some very old drink spills, crusty and dark against the bar top. But there is alcohol here, or at least, what you think is alcohol, in bottles with faded labels, most of them indecipherable. Take a drink, get drunk, start a fight, or start a party? You're stuck on this station, might as well make the most of it, right?
( 0 0 4 ) » SPACEQUAKES
One second, you are is walking. Magnetic boots are on, the ground feels solid enough, for a metal deck in a space station. Everything is perfectly fine, or at least as fine as it can be, given that you still don't know where you are or how you came to be here.
The next moment, it's like everything explodes around you. You're thrown against the wall as sparks erupts from electrical panels, as the whole station rumbles and shakes around you. You fall to the deck, earning yourself scratches from the grating. When you look up, it's like nothing has happened. No wires hanging from open panels, no flickering lights, no more shaking. Like an earthquake in space.

The station features a variety of locations, from sleeping quarters free for the claiming to a dirty swimming pool and a bar that still holds alcohol (though some of the bottles seem to have been opened a while ago).
Go wild, but don't wreck the place. It's your home for the foreseeable future, after all.

admittedly, he has a point: it's hard to mess up water, and everything leaves a lot to be desired about this place. dutch hates the captivity, she hates that she doesn't know where lucy is, whether johnny and d'avin are all right, what's happening. she hates that she's been stripped of her choice again — and then, apparently, literally stripped and put into this jumpsuit, too. she'd told herself no one would get to pull her strings ever again, but here she is.

( he reaches out and taps her glass with one finger before grinning again. )

( because then she'd have to wear sunglasses and he'd miss getting to see her eyes. )

( it was a total line, utterly and completely stupid, and he starts laughing as soon as the words have left his mouth. )

( it is a terrible line, but no matter how terrible, there's one good thing about it: it makes clear, as much as his actions, that he's interested. which, yeah. dutch can work with that. dutch can so work with that because as bad as that line was, he is pretty. and handsome. and pretty handsome.
she knows better than to say that out loud, though. instead, teasingly: ) Has no one ever told you that big an ego isn't very attractive?
( she's still grinning, though. still leaning toward him. still keeping eye contact. )
So what do you suggest I do instead? And don't even mention water.

( besides, she doesn't seem like she minds. in fact, he's pretty sure she's gotten closer to him and his grin widens just the tiniest bit when that realization dawns. it's not reaching levels of smugness or arrogance but he is pleased. )
Is a little confidence so bad?
( because that's what this was. he was confident in himself and his abilities.
and he was confident in this whole encounter too but that was probably pretty evident since she was calling him out. )
The answer to your question depends on if you're looking for a substitute in the form of something else to drink or just another substitute entirely.

And there's several ways to find that on this space station. Some more enjoyable than others. All of them sweaty, though. And I do like to sweat.

[ there's something about his stance, about the solid build of him that indicates that there's probably at least some truth to the words, but the fact remains that dutch knows she'll be able to beat him. khlyen didn't train her to lose. ]

[ she downs the rest of a drink, barely making a face this time, and slides off her bar stool. ]

( he hopes she doesn't actually try because running's such a pain in the ass and while he will give chase, he hopes that they're just going to calmly walk to whatever destination she has in mind so they can do whatever's going to happen.
manhandling, fighting, making out, whatever. he's thrumming in anticipation already. )

[ there's nothing but casual confidence in her tone. it's just a statement of fact. if she tried, she'd lose him. but - ] Fortunately for you, you're cute, so I won't try.
[ she's spotted a gym, earlier, but that's not where they're headed. they're headed, instead, to the room dutch has claimed as hers. it doesn't compare to being on lucy, but she knows how to make do when she has to. ]

( maybe she'd lose him initially but he'd turn up again and again and again and again. spock had marooned him on a damn planet and he'd still gotten back. )
Besides, I like to make it a point that no one wants to lose me. And I tend to be successful more often than not.
( he doesn't ask where they're going, just keeps walking, smug and anticipatory. )

[ half the time, dutch forgets the men she sleeps with soon before long. half the time, she doesn't even remember why she slept with them in the first place, other than that she felt like it at the time. pretty hands or pretty eyes or an itch to scratch.
they reach her quarters soon enough. it isn't a large space; none of the crew quarters here seem to be, but there's enough space in the middle of the room for a spar. and a bed nearby for what may follow. so once inside, she turns to him. brings her arms up in a loosely defensive position and gestures at him to approach. ]

( if she wants to use it, she can but he'll answer to pretty boy just as readily. he shakes his own arms out and then brings them up, shifting his weight from one foot to another.
hand to hand combat is something he's decently good at considering all the bar brawls he'd been in at one time combined with starfleet's training so he knows he's proficient. the unknown here is her but there's only one way to find out.
jim moves closer quickly, trying to get within her reach and then goes low, aiming a tightly arced punch at her side. )

[ dutch prefers 'pretty boy' for him. not just because he really is pretty, but because it's a way to keep her distance, too, at least for now. not physically, of course. physically, she's getting close quickly enough, avoiding the punch and aiming a jab at his stomach in return, quick and light on her feet. ]
