TEST DRIVE #002

TEST DRIVE #002

( 0 0 1 ) » WAKE UP
Were you asleep or were you unconscious? It doesn't matter: when you come to, there's an odd taste in your mouth and there's a low-level mechanical hum in the air. Your head hurts and you feel nauseous. You aren't anywhere you know: everything around you is metal, from the floor you lie on all the way to the ceiling. You are dressed in a jumpsuit you definitely weren't wearing before.

"We tried to save the world. I think— I think we did the opposite."

The message repeats on a loop. If you look for its source, you find a comms device on the floor next to you. The logo on its wallpaper says REVERIE TERMINAL. Upon closer inspection, you find the same logo on your jumpsuit.

Welcome to your new home. What choice do you have but to explore your surroundings?
( 0 0 1 . 1 ) » WAKE UP WHERE?
When you wake up, you find that you're not alone. But more importantly, you find that you're in a closet. An empty closet, bar you and your new companion. It's small, cramped, and there is no door that you can see. The ceiling is low, there is barely any lights, only some coming from the tiny flashlight clipped to your suit's shoulder. You cannot be sure that there is any air coming in to the room.

Are these grooves in the wall supposed to mean something?

( 0 0 2 ) » OBSERVATION DECK
There were no windows in the corridor you woke up in and no windows in any of the crew quarters you might have checked for occupants — but there are plenty of windows on the uppermost level of the station, deck 1. In fact, there are windows from floor to ceiling all along the circumference of the station's circular deck, and it's possible to walk along it all. What it shows is a strange solar system you've never seen before and a planet that might resemble one you know, but certainly isn't the same.

You're in space. You don't know where you are. Neither does anyone else.

( 0 0 3 ) » BAR
On deck 3, you find the bar. Tucked away from the crew quarters, it's dimly lit, there are bar stools thrown down on the floor and what looks like some very old drink spills, crusty and dark against the bar top. But there is alcohol here, or at least, what you think is alcohol, in bottles with faded labels, most of them indecipherable. Take a drink, get drunk, start a fight, or start a party? You're stuck on this station, might as well make the most of it, right?

( 0 0 4 ) » SPACEQUAKES
One second, you are is walking. Magnetic boots are on, the ground feels solid enough, for a metal deck in a space station. Everything is perfectly fine, or at least as fine as it can be, given that you still don't know where you are or how you came to be here.

The next moment, it's like everything explodes around you. You're thrown against the wall as sparks erupts from electrical panels, as the whole station rumbles and shakes around you. You fall to the deck, earning yourself scratches from the grating. When you look up, it's like nothing has happened. No wires hanging from open panels, no flickering lights, no more shaking. Like an earthquake in space.

( 0 0 5 ) » NETWORK
The comms device you found next to you when waking up connects to a station-wide network, REVERIE NET. You have the option to post video, voice or text messages.

What will you share?

( 0 0 6 ) » WILDCARD
The station features a variety of locations, from sleeping quarters free for the claiming to a dirty swimming pool and a bar that still holds alcohol (though some of the bottles seem to have been opened a while ago).

Go wild, but don't wreck the place. It's your home for the foreseeable future, after all.

[Look. She's just trying to be 'Mutant & Proud' Why are you hating on her, Rogue!?

Clutching the back of her head, her gaze starts at the pair of floating feet in front of her and then peers up to meet her face. If Rogue is expecting recognition, it doesn't come.]

I'm bleeding, but I'm not sure how bad it is. [Her hand explores the back of her head spreading apart her red hair tenderly to feel the length of the gash, only to stop to hiss in pain. Shit, that hurts.]

i know right? sorry not sorry she sounds racist af not-mom

[Mutant and your lady bits are almost showing other universe's not-mother. Proud isn't the word Rogue would use for the latter descriptor.

There's that pang of empathy that runs deeper and more complicated than she'd like for the other mutant, the lack of recognition registering, which helps Mystique gain assistance from her. Feet back to the surface, Rogue moves to the other woman with a set jaw and a slight scowl to counter the worry in her focused gaze.
]

Don't touch my skin. [She drawls roughly as she examines the wound, her gloved touch with one finger surprisingly gentle. Spoiler alert: she doesn't want to be gentle, but she's supposed to be better than that now.

It's tempting, though.
]

Too bad you ain't able to make clothes we can use as a bandage. [This is where clothing comes in handy woman, and her eyes say as much as she easily tears off a sleeve of her jumpsuit.] You're gonna need stitches, but first we need to stop the bleedin'.

[Don't touch her skin? Confusion cycles through her expression first, but then it finally settles on irritation. Does this woman not want to touch her because she's blue? Really? Raven bites her tongue because reluctantly she does have to admit that she needs help, even if its someone who's potentially bigoted. But then she had just been flying. It's all very confusing.]

Make clothes? [Raven certainly good make it look like she's wearing clothes, but they couldn't exactly be removed from her person. Her eyes are watching her like a hawk as she tears at her own sleeve.] I'm sorry, do we know each other?

With your powers. [Rogue offers her a knowing smile as she works to carefully tear the sleeve into strips, watching the other woman's reactions steadily. She probably shouldn't be enjoying this, but the salty, less mature part of her is delighting in Raven's suffering.]

Evidently you don't know me.

[What if she's better in her universe?

Her glare eventually softens at that thought, her eyes closing as she sighs to compose herself. Damn conscious. When she opens them, there's less animosity.
]

It's complicated, and now ain't exactly the time. We're probably from alternate universes.

[She may delight even more when she notices the head injury isn't the only one she's got. The small bullet sized wound in her calf is healing, or it was, but she's torn her sutures in the fall so its taken up bleeding as well.

Raven's a mess right now, Rogue.]

Is that a thing? [That not even a possibility she's ever even considered.] Does that happen a lot here? People who know you but you don't know them?

[personal profile] backwaterbelle 2018-06-15 03:19 am (UTC)(link)
You're leg. [Rogue points out while continuing to bandage, something she'd noticed as she gave Raven a once over for further injuries out of habit. Carefully, she holds out a few strips of jumpsuit fabric so that she can at least start bandaging her own leg.

The bullet wound piques her interest, but one explanation at a time.
]

Don't know 'bout here, but they exist back home for me. [Leveling her green eyes to the other mutant, she searches for any sort of sign that she's the Mystique she knows.] Might be the same universe but you ain't met me yet.

[She takes the fabric, but is still looking at Rogue with hesitancy. She's helping, so she's grateful of course, but the tension there is palpable.] Thanks... [Raven's not entirely sure she wants to explain the bullet wound. Honestly, she's not even sure how to explain it. Perhaps all she needs to say is Magneto. Maybe that's explanation enough no matter the dimension.]

It could be. I wouldn't know, would I?
