TEST DRIVE #002

TEST DRIVE #002

( 0 0 1 ) » WAKE UP
Were you asleep or were you unconscious? It doesn't matter: when you come to, there's an odd taste in your mouth and there's a low-level mechanical hum in the air. Your head hurts and you feel nauseous. You aren't anywhere you know: everything around you is metal, from the floor you lie on all the way to the ceiling. You are dressed in a jumpsuit you definitely weren't wearing before.

"We tried to save the world. I think— I think we did the opposite."

The message repeats on a loop. If you look for its source, you find a comms device on the floor next to you. The logo on its wallpaper says REVERIE TERMINAL. Upon closer inspection, you find the same logo on your jumpsuit.

Welcome to your new home. What choice do you have but to explore your surroundings?
( 0 0 1 . 1 ) » WAKE UP WHERE?
When you wake up, you find that you're not alone. But more importantly, you find that you're in a closet. An empty closet, bar you and your new companion. It's small, cramped, and there is no door that you can see. The ceiling is low, there is barely any lights, only some coming from the tiny flashlight clipped to your suit's shoulder. You cannot be sure that there is any air coming in to the room.

Are these grooves in the wall supposed to mean something?

( 0 0 2 ) » OBSERVATION DECK
There were no windows in the corridor you woke up in and no windows in any of the crew quarters you might have checked for occupants — but there are plenty of windows on the uppermost level of the station, deck 1. In fact, there are windows from floor to ceiling all along the circumference of the station's circular deck, and it's possible to walk along it all. What it shows is a strange solar system you've never seen before and a planet that might resemble one you know, but certainly isn't the same.

You're in space. You don't know where you are. Neither does anyone else.

( 0 0 3 ) » BAR
On deck 3, you find the bar. Tucked away from the crew quarters, it's dimly lit, there are bar stools thrown down on the floor and what looks like some very old drink spills, crusty and dark against the bar top. But there is alcohol here, or at least, what you think is alcohol, in bottles with faded labels, most of them indecipherable. Take a drink, get drunk, start a fight, or start a party? You're stuck on this station, might as well make the most of it, right?

( 0 0 4 ) » SPACEQUAKES
One second, you are is walking. Magnetic boots are on, the ground feels solid enough, for a metal deck in a space station. Everything is perfectly fine, or at least as fine as it can be, given that you still don't know where you are or how you came to be here.

The next moment, it's like everything explodes around you. You're thrown against the wall as sparks erupts from electrical panels, as the whole station rumbles and shakes around you. You fall to the deck, earning yourself scratches from the grating. When you look up, it's like nothing has happened. No wires hanging from open panels, no flickering lights, no more shaking. Like an earthquake in space.

( 0 0 5 ) » NETWORK
The comms device you found next to you when waking up connects to a station-wide network, REVERIE NET. You have the option to post video, voice or text messages.

What will you share?

( 0 0 6 ) » WILDCARD
The station features a variety of locations, from sleeping quarters free for the claiming to a dirty swimming pool and a bar that still holds alcohol (though some of the bottles seem to have been opened a while ago).

Go wild, but don't wreck the place. It's your home for the foreseeable future, after all.

FELLOW PROGRAMMERS!!! I haven't had anyone else to talk to about this in two years! I mean, Pearl tries her hardest, but she can only do so much, you know?

Anyway, they're pretty small. I've never worked with human programming languages before, you know? Right now, I've got...
  • A virtual keyboard! Only a few basic wave settings. Needs an override for the one-touch hologram controls to handle multiple inputs.
  • A pitch analyzer! It works alright but zeroes out at certain frequencies. I think it's just a library problem...
  • A selfie filter! The light levels on this thing are crazy whack. I mean, how am I supposed to handle stage makeup? I don't even have eyeliner!

gearing up

[ dutch wakes.

not the first time she's woken somewhere with no idea how she got there, but that doesn't make her any less pissed off (or methodical) about it. not long after assessing her surroundings, her physical status, the looping message, the things she (doesn't) have on hand -- she's moving.

so you might run into her at the mess, a small pile of greyish plastic cutlery on the table in front of her. she picks up a fork, measuring, and then throws it hard against the nearest surface. it cracks and nearly breaks under this abuse, and she scowls. ]

Useless, [ she notes, but slides a few knives into her pockets anyway. gods, she can hear khlyen laughing.

(she can hear his lessons echoing in her ears. look around, yala, always look at what you have. then use it.)

or you may see her in one of the public areas, picking through a tool kit. maybe you notice her slip a wrench or a hammer into her boot, or maybe you ask her what she's doing -- if she notices someone's approach, she'll look up and cant her head wryly, yellow safety gloves in hand. ]

What do you think? The color bring out my eyes?

[ or maybe you startle her, and she reflexively throws a pair of pliers directly at your head. whoops. ]

spacequake

Shit!

[ the ground underneath her lurches without warning, and dutch throws out a hand instinctively to steady herself. not that does anything, with the entire bloody ship shaking. she loses her footing, goes hard against the wall before hitting the ground face-first. not her best landing, but she isn't busy thinking about dignity (like a certain jaqobis she won't mention just might). she looks up, spitting hair from her mouth, pulls her legs underneath her as though to stand -- and when she registers that things are steady, does. she staggers a step or two, demands to anyone in sight: ]

What the hells was that?

network

[ from the username killjoy: ]

Okay, let's keep this simple. If you've heard of the RAC, raise your hand. Detaining a Reclamation Agent will get you in deep shit, so I recommend whoever the hells is in charge of this little operation come have a little chat with me.

Or we can do things the hard way.

[ she is not opposed to doing things the hard way. ]

spacequake!

[personal profile] witters 2018-07-26 07:39 am (UTC)(link)
[ fitz crashes down immediately, a forward tumble that'll leave bruises on his knees and arms. he manages to avoid bumping his head, though, so all his press-ups haven't been for naught. in contrast to dutch, he doesn't bounce back quickly. he brings himself up to a sitting position, assessing the state of his limbs (no permanent damage, thank christ). he tries to find purchase on the metal walls, fails to do so, and lets his arms fall slack at his side. ]

Could be anything. [ despite his wide-eyed uncertainty, his voice is calm. ] Gravity system malfunction, maybe. [ he spies a panel across the where, where he thought he saw sparks before the quake, but it appears pristine. ] Or the station moved. Could've been hit by something — like space debris.

[ he shakes his head, unconvinced by any of his rapid-fire theories. ]

[personal profile] warranter 2018-07-26 12:37 pm (UTC)(link)
[ force of habit: she opens her mouth to ask lucy, to ask johnny over coms. remembers she can't do either, closes her mouth. ]

Sure. Really large space debris.

[ she sounds just this side of sardonic -- unconvinced, clearly, but she isn't particularly looking to mock fitz either. it's the situation she's mad at, not him. a beat, then she disentangles her mind from the mystery long enough to ask, ]

Are you okay?

Looks like you need to work on your aim.

[Shut up, Bellamy.]

Looks like you need to work on your entrances.

[ sneaking up on people is rude!!!! and incredibly likely to end in major injury, when dutch is involved. ]

Besides, I wasn't trying to hurt you. [ wait for it: ] You'd know if I were.

[personal profile] jettisons 2018-07-26 11:41 pm (UTC)(link)
[Bellamy doesn't quite smile, because when does he ever? He does look amused, though, as he leans down to scoop up the pliers.]

I'll keep that in mind. These would do you more good in a toolkit.

[Instead of wedged in his skull, he means.]

That's where I found them, [ she allows, turning back to the kit in question. ] Helpful of our mysteriously absent kidnappers to keep so many of these around.

[ she's been looking. there are a lot, even if they're hidden -- and none too useful to her, either. ]

[But that's so optimistic.]

Or maybe we'll find them all dead in the next section of the station we unlock.

[peter is... look, he's minding his own business. seriously, he is. he's just getting the lay of the land — ship, technically, but that's just, you know, that's just an expression — here, uselessly circling the same areas, like, six times, knowing that he'll find no more sign of his friends on the sixth round than he did on the other five, but trying it again anyway. just totally normal, totally non-offensive stuff.

and nothing that merits a freaking projectile thrown at his head.

okay, so, this definitely isn't the first time he's had something thrown at him, and it isn't even the first time he's had something thrown at him recently, but — and he can admit this — but he totally deserved it all those other times, and this time, unlike all those other times, he did not.

which is: 1) seriously uncool, and 2) not how he was planning for this day to go!!]

Whoa, whoa, [he says, rubbing his head (because holy shit) as he wheels around toward the direction of the thrower.] What the hell?

Sorry! False alarm.

[ the false alarm was you peter, you are the false alarm. she doesn't sound particularly sorry either but, to be fair, he's clearly feeling well enough to complain.

(is she off her game? she has to consider the possibility that she's off her game. not that murdering a stranger by accident is the kind of day she's looking to have.) ]

[no, she doesn't sound sorry, and she doesn't look particularly sorry, either. this is the thought that hits him as he studies her for a minute, arms now crossed over his chest as the scowl that's formed on his face deepens just a little.

false alarm, she says. false alarm. yeah freaking right.

he opens his mouth, then closes it again, then repeats that cycle a couple of times, before:]

You know, I wanna believe you, I really do, but — [a beat.] Your aim was way too good to be an accident, which means you were totally hitting me on purpose. Which — if you wanna make friends? Definitely not the way to do it. Just a tip.

Find our evil overlords; discover what they're up to; kick some ass; go home. [ she turns to face him then, eyebrows raised. ] Enough of a plan for you?

[ finding a weapon worth a shit somewhere during all that would just be icing on the cake, really. ]

( 0 0 1 ) » WAKE UP

[clarke isn't a stranger to bring kidnapped and brought to a new place but that doesn't make it any less of a concerning when she abruptly wakes up. she feels dizzy, disoriented and it just barely registers with her that she has been stripped of her belongings only to be wearing a jumpsuit.

she can't seem to shake the feeling of deja vu either but slowly stands up and attempts to focus her eyes on her new surroundings. it was not only unsettling not knowing where she was but it only raised more questions she didn't know the answer to which frustrated her even more. was this connected? were the same people who took her before responsible for this? it was the start of many questions clarke was wondering as was attempting to puzzle out the situation in front of her.

she wasn't sure what to think but what she knew for sure was that she couldn't be alone, they had to have taken the others too. she glances over herself checking if they had done anything to her while she was unconscious and after a few moments, it's not long before clarke notices the strange device that was beside her which seems to be playing back a message on loop. it doesn't mean anything to her but she picks it up regardless and keeps it on her in case it's useful.

nothing about this place sits right with her and instead of accepting things as they are, she is determined to figure this out so the first thing she does is venture further down the hall in hopes of getting some answers because the first priority right now making sure her people were safe too. he tries to remain cautious but whether she sees you from a distance or you happen to pass by her, she will call out doesn't hesitate to approach]
Hey— are you from here?

( 0 0 4 ) » OBSERVATION DECK

[it was almost ironic being back up in space but it was familiar territory at least even if this wasn't exactly the ark since the view outside wasn't exactly of earth. she had already explored most sections of this place only to end up with more questions instead of answer and she didn't have much luck finding her friends either.

she finds herself by the observation desk taking a breather to process the situation and figure out what she should do next because by this point she has come to learn she isn't the only one who was brought here unknowingly against their will. it doesn't take her too long to realize she wasn't the only one with that thought as she turns to the person beside her trying to strike up casual conversation]
What do you think of the view?

( 0 0 5 ) » NETWORK

[it's been a couple of days now but she still feels just as wary if not more so than when she arrived especially since this seems like a step backwards by being back in space yet again. despite that she is trying her best and she knows that using this communicator is a good start as any even it's just to test to waters]

un: clarke

hey. i have never really used anything like this before but my name is clarke griffin.

i've been told using this is probably my best shot in getting some answers or alternatively talking with and getting to know more people here so i figured i'd give it a try. i'm still trying to wrap my head around being here but i have a couple of questions and things i want to know:

1. who is in charge here and how can i speak with them?
2. do there maps of this place exist that I can get a hold of?
3. how long have you been here? if it is not too intrusive, i would like to hear about people's experiences here or anything that you have found out about this place if you are willing to share that too.

lastly if skaikru means anything to you or sounds familiar just let me know.
[her words served the dual purpose of learning more about this place while trying to determine a pattern but more importantly the last part was a pointed callout to hear friends if they happen to hear this]
