TEST DRIVE #002

TEST DRIVE #002

( 0 0 1 ) » WAKE UP
Were you asleep or were you unconscious? It doesn't matter: when you come to, there's an odd taste in your mouth and there's a low-level mechanical hum in the air. Your head hurts and you feel nauseous. You aren't anywhere you know: everything around you is metal, from the floor you lie on all the way to the ceiling. You are dressed in a jumpsuit you definitely weren't wearing before.

"We tried to save the world. I think— I think we did the opposite."

The message repeats on a loop. If you look for its source, you find a comms device on the floor next to you. The logo on its wallpaper says REVERIE TERMINAL. Upon closer inspection, you find the same logo on your jumpsuit.

Welcome to your new home. What choice do you have but to explore your surroundings?
( 0 0 1 . 1 ) » WAKE UP WHERE?
When you wake up, you find that you're not alone. But more importantly, you find that you're in a closet. An empty closet, bar you and your new companion. It's small, cramped, and there is no door that you can see. The ceiling is low, there is barely any lights, only some coming from the tiny flashlight clipped to your suit's shoulder. You cannot be sure that there is any air coming in to the room.

Are these grooves in the wall supposed to mean something?

( 0 0 2 ) » OBSERVATION DECK
There were no windows in the corridor you woke up in and no windows in any of the crew quarters you might have checked for occupants — but there are plenty of windows on the uppermost level of the station, deck 1. In fact, there are windows from floor to ceiling all along the circumference of the station's circular deck, and it's possible to walk along it all. What it shows is a strange solar system you've never seen before and a planet that might resemble one you know, but certainly isn't the same.

You're in space. You don't know where you are. Neither does anyone else.

( 0 0 3 ) » BAR
On deck 3, you find the bar. Tucked away from the crew quarters, it's dimly lit, there are bar stools thrown down on the floor and what looks like some very old drink spills, crusty and dark against the bar top. But there is alcohol here, or at least, what you think is alcohol, in bottles with faded labels, most of them indecipherable. Take a drink, get drunk, start a fight, or start a party? You're stuck on this station, might as well make the most of it, right?

( 0 0 4 ) » SPACEQUAKES
One second, you are is walking. Magnetic boots are on, the ground feels solid enough, for a metal deck in a space station. Everything is perfectly fine, or at least as fine as it can be, given that you still don't know where you are or how you came to be here.

The next moment, it's like everything explodes around you. You're thrown against the wall as sparks erupts from electrical panels, as the whole station rumbles and shakes around you. You fall to the deck, earning yourself scratches from the grating. When you look up, it's like nothing has happened. No wires hanging from open panels, no flickering lights, no more shaking. Like an earthquake in space.

( 0 0 5 ) » NETWORK
The comms device you found next to you when waking up connects to a station-wide network, REVERIE NET. You have the option to post video, voice or text messages.

What will you share?

( 0 0 6 ) » WILDCARD
The station features a variety of locations, from sleeping quarters free for the claiming to a dirty swimming pool and a bar that still holds alcohol (though some of the bottles seem to have been opened a while ago).

Go wild, but don't wreck the place. It's your home for the foreseeable future, after all.

Right, I thought it was crazy! But you know how Steven can be. That little meatball has so much heart -- and he's stubborn when he wants to be.

[Bismuth pauses and watches Peridot get to work, then grins. That's right! Peridot can control metal. It's not real strong, but she loves how feisty the smaller gem is.]

That's the spirit! All right, let's bust outta here.

[Though she probably could do this without Peridot's help, she's not going to tell her otherwise. Instead, Bismuth gives another hard swing, then gives the door a push once it feels loose enough.]

Give it a good hard push, Peridot! You can do it!

002 - observation deck

[When Bellamy wakes up, disoriented and achy, he thinks it's part of a dream. The low, familiar mechanical hum, the warm plastic smell of recycled air—he's dreamt of being back on the Ark more than once, and the fact that everything is just slightly off from the station he remembers just adds to the uncanny, dreamlike feel. It's only when he registers the message playing on loop and the jumpsuit he's wearing that he realizes this is reality. When he reaches the observation deck, the gravity of the situation really hits him.

Bellamy takes in a sharp breath, getting caught at the window for a long moment. When someone else enters the room, he turns, eyes narrowing and voice intense.]

What the hell is this?

004 - spacequakes

[The "earthquake" happens so quickly Bellamy barely has time to react. He's still not entirely used to his mag boots, but they save his ass. Instead of being slammed headfirst into a metal wall, the boots make him stagger, and when he goes down, he knows it's not nearly as bad as it could have been. He's got some scrapes on his hands and bruised knees, but that's about the extent of the damage.

His mind tries to conjure up an explanation and mostly fails. An explosion? Some sort of debris hitting the station? Both have happened on the Ark before, but neither explanation sits well with him. When he realizes someone else has been thrown to the floor as well, he forces himself upright.]

You okay?

005 - network

un: blake

My name is Bellamy Blake. I need to know who's in charge and what the hell is going on. There wasn't a welcoming committee laying down the basics. Is there a way off this station? What planet are we orbiting?

If you came down from the Ark, I'll be waiting on the observation deck.

Sounds useful.

[And then Bellamy seems to realize he's a big rude jerk, which is a revelation.]

I'm Bellamy. You?

Oh, thank goodness it's you, Bismuth! I thought I was all alone on this...rogue space terminal.

It doesn't belong to the humans currently on board, nor any known gems. Nothing about it makes any sense!

I don't even know how I ended up here!

no ones in charge we have no idea there is no welcoming committee and theres only a way off the station if you can survive the cold depths of space without protection

i can for the record

and we have no idea what planet it is or even what galaxy it is congratulations on getting stuck here with the rest of everyone else

Pearl! Now it's feeling a little more normal having familiar faces around. We should meet up.

Yeah, I was kind of afraid of that. None of the structure looks familiar or like it's by anyone we know. I think I saw some kind of lunch area, so some kind of organic lifeform made this place. Probably.

[ Dominic offers him a small smile and he sits across from him, hesitating a moment. Social interaction is strange in the environment he grew up in and figuring out how to appear 'normal' is something that's difficult. ]

Thank you.. [ A pause. ] My name's Dominic.

We are.

[ at least he got there eventually ]

Dutch. Seems to me you know more about me than I do about you, now. Fair's fair.
iridissident: ([pleased as pearlnch])

that wink, cease. pearl is already gay

[personal profile] iridissident 2018-07-28 03:27 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, please.

Between the two of us, we should be able to solve this fairly quickly!

Now, what's your location? I'm in some sort of observation room. It's a nice view, I'll admit, but I don't recognize any of the galaxies...
jettisons: (Default)

[personal profile] jettisons 2018-07-28 03:28 am (UTC)(link)
There's not much to tell. I grew up on a station a little like this one, but I wasn't anyone important. Just a janitor.

[There's just the slightest hint of bitterness there, whoops.]

Why come back? There's not much to do here either.

would you rather be alone on a planet or at least have people around for entertainment
backinbismuth: (07)

don't tell me you can't be gayer

[personal profile] backinbismuth 2018-07-28 03:43 am (UTC)(link)
Sounds good to me! We'll put our heads together. There's nothing we can't do.

Haven't seen the observation room, but I think I found a gym. Pretty nice, but it's not going to do me much good. Be nice if we had a map, huh? Maybe we should try to go to the most bottom floor, that'll probably help us from missing each other.
jettisons: (pic#11855269)

[personal profile] jettisons 2018-07-28 03:44 am (UTC)(link)
[Well, that's straightforward and surprisingly informative. Thank god.]

You can survive space how?

A. 002 Observation Deck

How on Earth did I end up in space?!

[Pearl exclaims, staring up and out of the glossy windows of the observation deck. These star systems are unfamiliar, that planet doubly so...

There's no way she came here on accident!

Oh, goodness. She cups her hands around her mouth, calling not for the first time:
]

Steven? Amethyst? Garnet! I'll even take Peridot...! Answer me if you're here, please!

[One of them has to know what's going on! And why she woke up in a smelly old spacesuit.]

im a gem

assuming that you are human and like everyone else not going to believe me when i say that but stick around long enough and if you see someone who is decidedly extremely blue thats me and im inorganic no need for air or water or all that stuff

just take my word for it

But also, like, she's absolutely going to keep going. LATER SPACE NERD.

[Peridot has only just arrived here too, which means she's been scuttling around in search of any familiar faces as well. It's a relief when she catches the sound of Pearl's voice in the distance!

...Then she turns the corner just in time to catch that last comment.]

Hey, what's that supposed to mean!?

[Look alive Pearl, the green shorty is here wearing a similar smelly old space suit, hands on her hips, scowling with offense.]
iridissident: ([what in carnation])

[personal profile] iridissident 2018-07-28 03:59 am (UTC)(link)
[Pearl, of course, yells. Don't sneak up on heR LIKE THAT...!

She whips around, and it's soooort of a happy moment? Like, they haven't talked much, but a familiar face is a familiar face. Even if that face probably only barely tolerates you for Steven's sake.
]

Lapis?! [Also, they were poofed. That too.] I didn't think you'd reform so soon.

[So, like, good job? You didn't come back with an arm for an eye. Pearl is absolutely following Lapis also.]

Have you seen Steven?
