( 0 0 1 ) » WAKE UP

Were you asleep or were you unconscious? It doesn't matter: when you come to, there's an odd taste in your mouth and there's a low-level mechanical hum in the air. Your head hurts and you feel nauseous. You aren't anywhere you know: everything around you is metal, from the floor you lie on all the way to the ceiling. You are dressed in a jumpsuit you definitely weren't wearing before.

"We tried to save the world. I think— I think we did the opposite."

The message repeats on a loop. If you look for its source, you find a comms device on the floor next to you. The logo on its wallpaper says REVERIE TERMINAL. Upon closer inspection, you find the same logo on your jumpsuit.

Welcome to your new home. What choice do you have but to explore your surroundings?

( 0 0 1 . 1 ) » WAKE UP WHERE?

When you wake up, you find that you're not alone. But more importantly, you find that you're in a closet. An empty closet, bar you and your new companion. It's small, cramped, and there is no door that you can see. The ceiling is low, there is barely any lights, only some coming from the tiny flashlight clipped to your suit's shoulder. You cannot be sure that there is any air coming in to the room.

Are these grooves in the wall supposed to mean something?

( 0 0 2 ) » OBSERVATION DECK

There were no windows in the corridor you woke up in and no windows in any of the crew quarters you might have checked for occupants — but there are plenty of windows on the uppermost level of the station, deck 1. In fact, there are windows from floor to ceiling all along the circumference of the station's circular deck, and it's possible to walk along it all. What it shows is a strange solar system you've never seen before and a planet that might resemble one you know, but certainly isn't the same.

You're in space. You don't know where you are. Neither does anyone else.

( 0 0 3 ) » BAR

On deck 3, you find the bar. Tucked away from the crew quarters, it's dimly lit, there are bar stools thrown down on the floor and what looks like some very old drink spills, crusty and dark against the bar top. But there is alcohol here, or at least, what you think is alcohol, in bottles with faded labels, most of them indecipherable. Take a drink, get drunk, start a fight, or start a party? You're stuck on this station, might as well make the most of it, right?

( 0 0 4 ) » SPACEQUAKES

One second, you are is walking. Magnetic boots are on, the ground feels solid enough, for a metal deck in a space station. Everything is perfectly fine, or at least as fine as it can be, given that you still don't know where you are or how you came to be here.

The next moment, it's like everything explodes around you. You're thrown against the wall as sparks erupts from electrical panels, as the whole station rumbles and shakes around you. You fall to the deck, earning yourself scratches from the grating. When you look up, it's like nothing has happened. No wires hanging from open panels, no flickering lights, no more shaking. Like an earthquake in space.

The station features a variety of locations, from sleeping quarters free for the claiming to a dirty swimming pool and a bar that still holds alcohol (though some of the bottles seem to have been opened a while ago).

Go wild, but don't wreck the place. It's your home for the foreseeable future, after all.

( the words are intentional, measured. he knows they're going to get a reaction. maybe not an outward one if she's controlled enough but he knows that expressing an expected weakness like that, out loud, is hard to ignore.

so, he doesn't move just yet, arms still crossed, posture mostly relaxed as he stands there and waits to see what she'll do. )

[ Haruto had never seen food replicators before he arrived here, but after months now of eating from them at least twice a day, Haruto is an old hat at using them.

He takes a plate and goes up to the machine, asking for something resembling rice porridge. What comes out isn't exactly right, but it's closer than it would have been when he first arrived.

Satisfied, he takes his plate to a sweat and starts eating. ]

[ a face is made. it's so bizarre that he isn't familiar with the force. that scarcely anyone here is. ]

But, we're discovering new planets all the time so who knows, I might get lucky and be the guy that stumbles upon the metal that gets named after me. Has to measure up, be the best for that to happen.

[his voice is completely flat as he pulls away again, putting space back between them so he can give apollo a look. one that's a mix between annoyance at being out of the loop here, and concern that whoever this ken is must be important in some way if he's bringing him up. so whether or not it's something he should know about yet--]

Angel almost isn't expecting anyone to answer her at this point. She'd looked in both directions, neither appealing and waffled over a decision. She was about to start one way when a voice made her jump slightly and she turned around toward it. There's a mix of simultaneous apprehension and relief upon seeing another person. They're in the same horrible jumpsuit but they're there at least.

"Yes," she doesn't repeat exactly what she said before, though. "Where am I?"

[ Angel gets up and she's pretty sure she might end up with more than a few bruises but now that there's certainty that she can stand on her two feet again and there's nothing seriously wrong with her she looks at Bobbi more directly. ]

I don't know what happened... [ It hadn't happened to her before and she's not sure how to keep it from happening again. ]

[ Erik grits his teeth. Charles' hollow smile grates on his already-strained nerves. ]

You could have your powers back whenever you want them. You know this. The money and the house do not define you. You value yourself so little that you would put a dollar sign on it? That all you are to them is some kind of producer of material comforts?

( it is a terrible line, but no matter how terrible, there's one good thing about it: it makes clear, as much as his actions, that he's interested. which, yeah. dutch can work with that. dutch can so work with that because as bad as that line was, he is pretty. and handsome. and pretty handsome.

Oh, plenty of people. I just tend to not listen to them.

( besides, she doesn't seem like she minds. in fact, he's pretty sure she's gotten closer to him and his grin widens just the tiniest bit when that realization dawns. it's not reaching levels of smugness or arrogance but he is pleased. )

Is a little confidence so bad?

( because that's what this was. he was confident in himself and his abilities.

and he was confident in this whole encounter too but that was probably pretty evident since she was calling him out. )

The answer to your question depends on if you're looking for a substitute in the form of something else to drink or just another substitute entirely.

[ It's weird.

It's weird but at least Dominic knows how to go about it now. He takes a plate and asks for a relatively simple meal and well, it'll do. His stomach is near growling with hunger but hunger's not new for him. However, no one is around controlling when or if he can eat. Which is a strange thing to realize in and of itself.

He hesitates a moment and then walks over toward the other who'd gone before him. ]

Can I join you?

[ At least one thing in his upbringing that he could use is the fact that he'd had to learn how to just go up to strangers. ]
