TEST DRIVE #002

TEST DRIVE #002

( 0 0 1 ) » WAKE UP
Were you asleep or were you unconscious? It doesn't matter: when you come to, there's an odd taste in your mouth and there's a low-level mechanical hum in the air. Your head hurts and you feel nauseous. You aren't anywhere you know: everything around you is metal, from the floor you lie on all the way to the ceiling. You are dressed in a jumpsuit you definitely weren't wearing before.

"We tried to save the world. I think— I think we did the opposite."

The message repeats on a loop. If you look for its source, you find a comms device on the floor next to you. The logo on its wallpaper says REVERIE TERMINAL. Upon closer inspection, you find the same logo on your jumpsuit.

Welcome to your new home. What choice do you have but to explore your surroundings?
( 0 0 1 . 1 ) » WAKE UP WHERE?
When you wake up, you find that you're not alone. But more importantly, you find that you're in a closet. An empty closet, bar you and your new companion. It's small, cramped, and there is no door that you can see. The ceiling is low, there is barely any lights, only some coming from the tiny flashlight clipped to your suit's shoulder. You cannot be sure that there is any air coming in to the room.

Are these grooves in the wall supposed to mean something?

( 0 0 2 ) » OBSERVATION DECK
There were no windows in the corridor you woke up in and no windows in any of the crew quarters you might have checked for occupants — but there are plenty of windows on the uppermost level of the station, deck 1. In fact, there are windows from floor to ceiling all along the circumference of the station's circular deck, and it's possible to walk along it all. What it shows is a strange solar system you've never seen before and a planet that might resemble one you know, but certainly isn't the same.

You're in space. You don't know where you are. Neither does anyone else.

( 0 0 3 ) » BAR
On deck 3, you find the bar. Tucked away from the crew quarters, it's dimly lit, there are bar stools thrown down on the floor and what looks like some very old drink spills, crusty and dark against the bar top. But there is alcohol here, or at least, what you think is alcohol, in bottles with faded labels, most of them indecipherable. Take a drink, get drunk, start a fight, or start a party? You're stuck on this station, might as well make the most of it, right?

( 0 0 4 ) » SPACEQUAKES
One second, you are is walking. Magnetic boots are on, the ground feels solid enough, for a metal deck in a space station. Everything is perfectly fine, or at least as fine as it can be, given that you still don't know where you are or how you came to be here.

The next moment, it's like everything explodes around you. You're thrown against the wall as sparks erupts from electrical panels, as the whole station rumbles and shakes around you. You fall to the deck, earning yourself scratches from the grating. When you look up, it's like nothing has happened. No wires hanging from open panels, no flickering lights, no more shaking. Like an earthquake in space.

( 0 0 5 ) » NETWORK
The comms device you found next to you when waking up connects to a station-wide network, REVERIE NET. You have the option to post video, voice or text messages.

What will you share?

( 0 0 6 ) » WILDCARD
The station features a variety of locations, from sleeping quarters free for the claiming to a dirty swimming pool and a bar that still holds alcohol (though some of the bottles seem to have been opened a while ago).

Go wild, but don't wreck the place. It's your home for the foreseeable future, after all.

[his expression turns curious as he looks between apollo and the door they're stopped by, and it takes him an extra few moments before he actually makes any kind of move. he knows that apollo isn't lying to him. that, if he says they don't open easily, he means it. but that doesn't keep him from turning to face the door. a single tap on the controls and then he's digging his fingers into the closing of the door to try and pull one of the sides open. it'd likely be a lot simpler if he had a crowbar, but this'll have to do.

or not, as the case may be.]

They're all locked?

[yeah, they could probably do with having angie here. if she could just hack the system, maybe they'd get an answer or two.]

And then some.

[ Apollo watches a moment longer while Midnighter struggles with the door. It had been the same for him, and has been ever since he arrived. He reaches out to touch Midnighter's elbow, guiding him gently aside so that Apollo can take over. ]

Watch...

[ He steels himself, then slams a fist in to the door with a resounding crash of metal. The noise reverberates, echoing down the dingy corridor, but when Apollo draws his hand away again it's clear that he's only managed to faintly dimple the metal beneath it. And then the familiar sense of weakness begins to seep in, and he leans heavily on one fist against the wall. He's used to it now, this feel of bone-deep exhaustion that comes with every attempt to wrestle open the doors. ]

As soon as you start to try to force the doors, you feel weak. It's some kind of defence mechanism. [ He gives Midnighter a weak smile. ] It's pretty effective...

I am.

Did you also arrive locked in a closet?

[He seems 100% serious.]

[there's a momentary jolt to his system as the computer blares to life, throwing out warnings as apollo prepares to strike. (the door. not him.) but it's gone almost instantly, and midnighter is stuck with the sight of apollo seemingly draining in front of his eyes.]

You dumbass. [it's affectionate, despite the words.] You could've just told me what happens.

[especially when he's already stuck running with low batteries as it is. there's no point draining them any further than he has to. especially when they don't know what's coming next here. what problems they might be stuck facing next.

stepping to apollo's side, midnighter wraps an arm around his waist. support, whether he needs it or not. he may not be able to do much about the whole situation right now, but he can at least offer a little help for now.]

Someone's here. Someone changed us out of our clothes.

[ Which, speaking of, he would really like to get back. He follows Charles to the observation deck, because obviously he does. ]

No, but if we're here, he ought to be too. We were all together.
bestials: (02)

[personal profile] bestials 2018-06-10 12:18 am (UTC)(link)
There are computers here. I could... [ He adjusts his glasses, like a nerd. ] attempt to program a model. Depending on what maps are already programmed in.

[ But the mention of different realities throws him off guard. ]

I've heard of it... Certainly, after the past few days I've considered the idea of multiple timelines, with different choices leading to different outcomes.

You think we're in some alternate future?

[personal profile] bestials 2018-06-10 12:20 am (UTC)(link)
[ Trask? So she's a mutant after all. Hank hasn't heard about Trask running any prisons, though. ]

No, by all means.

[ She's right in that there's safety in numbers. He doesn't want to judge a book by its cover, but he could probably defend her if she needed it. ]

May I ask, [ Because of her comment about Trask prisons, and his experience the past few days with Logan, ] What year do you think it is?
bestials: (09 B)

[personal profile] bestials 2018-06-10 12:22 am (UTC)(link)
[ No, she doesn't have to say it. They both know she's not asking about Charles anymore. ]

Logan. The man who was with us in Paris. He came to 1973 from the future, to stop you from killing Trask. The machines Trask was building, in his time they've hunted mutants down by the hundreds. Using technology based on your mutation to adapt into killing machines.

So he wanted to kill me before that happened.

[That shouldn't make it better, but it does calm some of the tide of emotions she's feeling. That is something Erik would do. His actions made more sense now, at the very least.]

I can't just let Trask go. [Not that she's got much choice now, stuck here.]
bestials: (12)

[personal profile] bestials 2018-06-10 12:36 am (UTC)(link)
That's not what we brought him there to do. But... You know him.

[ Why Logan ever thought Erik would cooperate is beyond him. ]

There are other ways to stop him. There have to be.

[ It's been a few days since Rogue's vision started returning, but everything is still fuzzy and hard to focus on, like her eyes don't remember how to do it anymore. Walking around is easier at least; she doesn't have to worry about not seeing someone headed her way, she just can't always make out one blurry shape from the next.

The particular shape up ahead, though? That blue's pretty darn hard to miss. The figure is too large to be Mystique, thank goodness, lacking the litheness the woman had always possessed, but there have been plenty of other blues in her life. Still, without being able to get a good look at them, she can't make any assumptions, even if there do seem to be more mutants showing up lately. ]

Are you alright, sugar?

He listened with a blank, vaguely thoughtful, expression as Alucard went through a breakdown of the population on board, the circular LED spinning a pale blue once or twice as he spoke. The information was difficult to process, an impossibility that was now, not only true, but something that was right in front of him. His only option was to accept what he was being told.

It presented some problems with his programming however, the circle flickering yellow a few times as he was forced to write in new rules based on his own judgement. Mutated humans and humans with strange abilities, he still couldn't quite accept 'magic' as an explanation, were easily categorized with humans, but he was unsure how to categorize devils or Alucard himself. For both, he didn't have much more than a compilation of references, stories and myths that existed on record in his world. They were a very troubling grey area, so, for the moment, he applied the rule that they would be handled like humans per his programming unless they posed a direct threat to a human.

The entire process took only half a minute, the pause was noticeable, but not exceptionally long.

"Of course, I would be happy to assist however I'm able," He frowned slightly at Alucard, "What do you mean by that? How has he been 'unpleasant'?"

[ Hank had been breathing a little heavily, distractedly tearing at the confining cloth of his sleeves, when he hears someone call out to him. He can't help the way he flinches, uncomfortable being seen in such a state.

But then, he was on live television looking like this. The whole world knows he's blue and furry. Why not space, too? ]

I'm alright, [ He answers, still sheepish. ] Just... a little uncomfortable.
rk800connor: (52)

ahhhhh good!!! :> it's a pretty interesting world and neat characters

[personal profile] rk800connor 2018-06-10 02:46 am (UTC)(link)
[Luckily, this particular bombshell about people arriving from different times, places and, in some cases, universes had already been dropped on Connor so he'd had a bit of time to process the information.

He gave the stranger an apologetic smile.]

I'm sorry. I didn't realize... [How could he have, honestly?

The circular LED once again spun a few times, pale blue.]
I'm not entirely sure what to say? [He wanted to answer, but Hank's question simply wasn't quantitative enough. He could give statistics, list out presidents, inventions, or wars chronologically from 1973 until his present, but he couldn't really answer what 2038 was like. 2038 was 2038.] What exactly would you like to know?

[ There's something about his voice that's familiar, an echo of memory trying to connect with something more recent. There's something different though, like time passing between the two points her mind is trying to put together, and so she's not quite there yet. ]

Not used to uniforms like this?

[ Her tone is conversational, friendly, and she purposefully puts a bit more emphasis into her southern drawl, knowing people often found it soothing. ]

[ He chuckles softly, shaking his head and pinching the bridge of his nose with clawed fingertips. ]

No, I've worn flight suits like this before. [ He's designed flight suits like this before. ] It's just that this one isn't exactly my size, like this.
theycalledmeacurse: (056)

[personal profile] theycalledmeacurse 2018-06-10 03:09 am (UTC)(link)
[ Flight suits? Head tilting slightly to the side, she tries yet again to get her vision to focus enough for even just a second to be able to clearly see his face. No such luck, of course. ]

Like this? Are you-- Are you a mutant, sugar?
bestials: (11)

I would die for Markus

[personal profile] bestials 2018-06-10 03:12 am (UTC)(link)

[ He ducks his head a bit, shrugging helplessly. He should have figured the unique coloration of her hair was a mutation. ]

What gave it away?

[ He's not so far gone he can't make jokes, at least. Or be polite. He extends a big, furry hand for a shake. ]

My name's Hank.
