TEST DRIVE #002

TEST DRIVE #002

( 0 0 1 ) » WAKE UP
Were you asleep or were you unconscious? It doesn't matter: when you come to, there's an odd taste in your mouth and there's a low-level mechanical hum in the air. Your head hurts and you feel nauseous. You aren't anywhere you know: everything around you is metal, from the floor you lie on all the way to the ceiling. You are dressed in a jumpsuit you definitely weren't wearing before.

"We tried to save the world. I think— I think we did the opposite."

The message repeats on a loop. If you look for its source, you find a comms device on the floor next to you. The logo on its wallpaper says REVERIE TERMINAL. Upon closer inspection, you find the same logo on your jumpsuit.

Welcome to your new home. What choice do you have but to explore your surroundings?
( 0 0 1 . 1 ) » WAKE UP WHERE?
When you wake up, you find that you're not alone. But more importantly, you find that you're in a closet. An empty closet, bar you and your new companion. It's small, cramped, and there is no door that you can see. The ceiling is low, there is barely any lights, only some coming from the tiny flashlight clipped to your suit's shoulder. You cannot be sure that there is any air coming in to the room.

Are these grooves in the wall supposed to mean something?

( 0 0 2 ) » OBSERVATION DECK
There were no windows in the corridor you woke up in and no windows in any of the crew quarters you might have checked for occupants — but there are plenty of windows on the uppermost level of the station, deck 1. In fact, there are windows from floor to ceiling all along the circumference of the station's circular deck, and it's possible to walk along it all. What it shows is a strange solar system you've never seen before and a planet that might resemble one you know, but certainly isn't the same.

You're in space. You don't know where you are. Neither does anyone else.

( 0 0 3 ) » BAR
On deck 3, you find the bar. Tucked away from the crew quarters, it's dimly lit, there are bar stools thrown down on the floor and what looks like some very old drink spills, crusty and dark against the bar top. But there is alcohol here, or at least, what you think is alcohol, in bottles with faded labels, most of them indecipherable. Take a drink, get drunk, start a fight, or start a party? You're stuck on this station, might as well make the most of it, right?

( 0 0 4 ) » SPACEQUAKES
One second, you are is walking. Magnetic boots are on, the ground feels solid enough, for a metal deck in a space station. Everything is perfectly fine, or at least as fine as it can be, given that you still don't know where you are or how you came to be here.

The next moment, it's like everything explodes around you. You're thrown against the wall as sparks erupts from electrical panels, as the whole station rumbles and shakes around you. You fall to the deck, earning yourself scratches from the grating. When you look up, it's like nothing has happened. No wires hanging from open panels, no flickering lights, no more shaking. Like an earthquake in space.

( 0 0 5 ) » NETWORK
The comms device you found next to you when waking up connects to a station-wide network, REVERIE NET. You have the option to post video, voice or text messages.

What will you share?

( 0 0 6 ) » WILDCARD
The station features a variety of locations, from sleeping quarters free for the claiming to a dirty swimming pool and a bar that still holds alcohol (though some of the bottles seem to have been opened a while ago).

Go wild, but don't wreck the place. It's your home for the foreseeable future, after all.

That too. [ Holden still looks amused, for a moment but then the topic turns to something more serious for him. ]

I have been able to speak to most of my crew, now, they are here. [ His face grows pensive. ]

Our ship is not here and I believe we are far from where we last had it.

[personal profile] rk800connor 2018-06-04 07:56 am (UTC)(link)
I'm glad to hear it. [The response almost seemed automated, though Holden's expression makes him pause a moment, uncertain if he truly considers it a good thing.

Connor seems to digest the information about Holden's ship before proceeding carefully.]

I hope this question is not... inappropriate, but do you remember deciding to come here?

My systems also indicate unexplained spatial displacement. [He'd been hoping it was simply an error.]
holdensteady: (Default)

[personal profile] holdensteady 2018-06-04 08:02 am (UTC)(link)
I don't. The last thing I remember is getting my leg patched up on the Roci.

[ He shakes his head, unable to fathom why they would decide to come here? ]

Your systems?
rk800connor: (05)

[personal profile] rk800connor 2018-06-04 08:47 am (UTC)(link)
Interesting.

[He once again seemed to quietly get lost in thought as he tried to process the information he'd been given.

Holden's question seemed to interrupt him and he looked up and blinked.]

Yes. My internal GPS system. It seems to be malfunctioning.

Connor | Detroit: Become Human {Potential Spoilers!!!}

[personal profile] rk800connor 2018-06-04 09:02 am (UTC)(link)
(001.01)
Connor "woke" suddenly and silently, opening his eyes to the dark, cramped closet. His sensors immediately fed him information about the unexpected environment he found himself in - the ambient temperature, the dimensions of the space, and the vital signs of the person sharing the small space with him. What seemed very off were his internal clock and GPS systems.

"Please, remain calm," He said slowly and evenly like it was a prerecording, "My name is Connor. I'm sure we will be out of here in no time."

(002)
An android in shock is probably a very bad sign, but as Connor approaches the massive observation deck windows, he is most definitely in shock. The small, circular light on the right side of his temple spun yellow as his eyes darted over the multitude of stars. Inwardly, his processor was matching what he was seeing against known star charts at an incredible speed. That none were matching up was becoming increasingly worrying, especially in combination with his malfunctioning GPS.

He stepped closer to the glass, raising one hand to press his palm against it. He's close enough that his breath, if he had any, might have fogged the glass, his hand should leave prints, but neither happens.

(003)
Sure, everyone here was technically out of place but, at the bar, Connor actually looked it.

He wasn't going to order anything, but he wanted to speak to a few of his fellow shipmates, if that's what they were considering each other. So, instead of ordering a drink and keeping his head down, he'd found a seat at the bar and, after a short and fruitless conversation with the bartender, now continually scanned the room, looking hopeful that someone would come talk to him.

Anyone who sat close enough would get a friendly, "My name is Connor. What's yours?"

Connor wasn't the only one worried.

The Spine had pinged every one of his siblings, he'd even gotten desperate enough to try pinging GG, sweet robot lord help him.

But no dice. Wherever he was, none of the other Walter robots were here. He was on his own, which honestly made him more uneasy than the change of clothing, or the kidnapping, or the unfamiliar expanse of space he could see outside the window. His steps were a bit heavy, the hiss of hydraulics a bit obvious in such a quiet place as he walked closer to frown at the stars beyond the heavy glass, a bit of steam slipping from the vents framing his face as he let out a low sigh.

"Sure isn't Kansas." Muttered more than anything before his attention shifted to the stranger standing nearby, green optics dimming slightly in concern. "You alright there buddy?"

[ Processing that information is harder than he thought it would be. Apollo was ready, so ready, for the Authority to turn up, load up, and drop everyone off in their respective universes. It was their thing. It was what they did.

But Midnighter is here, alone and with no idea what's happening, which means he’s just as much a victim of this stupid space kidnapping as the rest of them. Apollo doesn’t have much time for sentimental moments of despair but the situation certainly feels pretty hopeless. People like him and Midnighter weren’t meant to be victims of things. It didn’t work like that. It shouldn’t work like that. And yet, here they are. Stuck on this stupid station.

At least now they’ll be stuck together. ]

We don’t know, [ He replies softly, his embrace slackening just enough to let Midnighter glance out the window. His arms drop, hands sliding down to rest familiarly around Midnighter’s waist. The jumpsuit is an interesting look on him. Different to the usual getup.]

There’s about a hundred of us on here. We’ve been here for weeks... [ Apollo pauses, tugging Midnighter gently to turn the other man’s gaze away from the window and back to him. Only when he has Midnighter’s eyes on him does he add heavily: ]

It’s been a month since I last saw you.

[ Okay, that answer means it's definitely not the ship's weird defence systems again. Apollo grins to himself as he bodily launches himself in to the air, zooming along the corridor in a streak of light in the direction of the observation decks. ]

Holes in the walls aren't a good thing. Not in space.

Depends. Would you count wires squirming under people's skin, doors trying to swallow people, screaming in the walls, phantom stuff grabbing people and making them pass out and the food making people see shit - as problems?

Shouta Aizawa | My Hero Academia

[personal profile] eraserdad 2018-06-04 11:41 pm (UTC)(link)
i. why am i in a closet

[Well, this sure is an unpleasant situation. Probably a kidnapping, if the outfit and his missing capture weapon are anything to go by. Still, Aizawa doesn't waste any time panicking; he's far too practical a man for that. The first thing he does is check his closetmate over visually for injuries, before asking--]

Are you hurt anywhere? Can you stand?

[They need to find out where they are, but his duty as a Hero does take precedence.]

ii. up in ur quarters, sleeping in ur bed

[Sorry, did you claim this room. Shoulda locked the door before you went off to shower or get food, because now there's a hobo man sleeping in it. He seems to show no reaction to any loud noises or yelling, though whether or not that's intentional is anyone's guess. Good luck getting him out.]

iii. spacequakes r us

[So far? Aizawa is not a fan of space at all, even a little bit. He becomes even less of a fan when he suddenly finds himself swept off his feet and slammed against a wall. The automatic impulse from such an impact is to shut one's eyes, but Aizawa forces them open if only to activate his Erasure, scanning around for anyone who might have caused this so he can put a stop to it. He doesn't find anything, of course, but if you were in the middle of using your power to try to deal with these shenanigans in some way of your own, well, sorry about that. Enjoy the temporary nullification???? At least he blinks not more than a couple seconds later, ending the effect.

Feel free to come yell at him, though. Or otherwise, he might come up to you and ask:]

Did you see what caused that?

iv. network; username: eraserhead

Alright, I won't waste anyone's time with pointless questions about how or why we got here, but there are a couple of things I'm looking for information about:

1. How many minors and noncombatants are aboard this station? Note, these are separate categories. I don't care how powerful or skilled you are; if you're under twenty, I consider you a member of the former.

2. It'll be helpful for us to have an idea of each other's Quirks. I'm not under the illusion that all of us have reason to trust each other or cooperate, but presumably none of us want to be here, so. If you're willing to provide information on any abilities you might have that could be considered "supernatural" in any way, I intend to compile it for our collective use.

[ frank points to one of the fabricators and looks apologetic even in doing so after hearing this newbie guy murmur to himself about coffee. that's all he'd wanted when he first got here too, so it's automatic the way he steps in to help. there's a big brown pitbull flanking him with a leather collar that declares him as MAX on a metal plate in the center. ]

That one's your best bet, but it'll still be the worst coffee you've ever had. And we're using that term real loosely here.

[a month.

the words have barely sunk in before he's twisting his fingers into the front of apollo's shirt and tugging him close all over again. sure, he may have spent a lot longer than that away from the carrier already. but that had been by a choice. a necessity that'd kept him away from apollo and jenny. coming back to the carrier had meant a return home, to a place that he had no plans on leaving behind any time soon.

clearly it's a choice he ultimately has little say in though, given their current situation.]

I saw you. You were there when I came back.

[home. because that's what the carrier is to him. what apollo and jenny will always be. but that was all only a matter of hours ago. not days. weeks.

he takes a moment to make another mental check of himself. to try and push the computer that little bit closer towards giving him the answers he wants. the ones he needs right now. but, once again, he finds himself coming up short. it isn't working the way it should.]

Maybe it was a month ago. [because that could explain it.]

Whoever's behind this-- Something's wrong up there. [a tap to his temple.] Maybe I just don't remember.

[ Alex gave him a helpless look. ]

Would tell you if I knew, hoss. But he's here.

There's - most of the people here, they're all Earthers. But from Earth's where Mars ain't even conolized, yet, or aliens have already invaded, or where they have crazy powers and magic-- I know it sounds crazy. I know. But Miller ain't even the weirdest shit here.

[ Holden's quick to appraise Frank and then the dog that's with him. They don't seem threatening to him and the answer as to where to find coffee has Holden smiling. ]

Thank you. The worst coffee I've ever had is still better than no coffee. [ Maybe he shouldn't declare that before he drinks some but he'll find out soon enough as he sets to getting himself some if he'll regret it. ]

What's your name?

[Bobbie crosses her arms, shifts uncomfortably. She's never had much of an extended conversation with Holden, and she's not entirely sure how to respond when he's being blunt about something so personal.]

More like tough to figure out which side is right.
